About Virginia Law Weekly
The Virginia Law Weekly newspaper is published by students at the University
of Virginia School of Law each Friday of the school year, excluding
breaks and exam periods.
Virginia Law Weekly was first printed in 1948 and has been cited by several courts in published judicial opinions, including the U.S. Supreme Court in Patterson
v. New York, 432 U.S. 197 (1977), the Fifth Circuit in Thermo
King v. White's Trucking Service, 292 F.2d 668 (5th Cir. 1961), and various state courts.
The Law Weekly was first published online in the late 1990s, providing
downloadable PDF versions of each week's edition. The website was expanded by Editor-in-Chief Scott
Meacham '04 in the winter of 2004, and in the spring of 2005, Features Editor
Joey Katzen '07 relaunched it as a full-featured interactive newspaper
site.
