Call for Comments: UVA Active Shooter

On Monday afternoon, UVA students and staff received an alert alleging that an active attacker armed with a gun was on Main Grounds near Shannon Library. The alert concluded with the now-familiar dangling instruction, "RUN HIDE FIGHT" (pictured). Classes were subsequently paused, and the Law School stated that its exterior doors were locked. Just under two hours later, the Run-Hide-Fight guidance was lifted.

The Editorial Board seeks comments from students, staff, and professors about their experiences on Monday, or with previous similar incidents on Grounds. Our hope is to garner a variety of perspectives and to capture the Law School community's understanding of how the school does and ought to react to allegations of violence such as this one.
