Dandelion and Demin
On Friday, August 28, the 1Ls and LLMs began their real initiation into the Law School: bopping to the top. The event known as Dandelion brought together the new faces of the Law School at The Park at North Grounds for the annual dance competition. In the humble (unbiased opinion) of one journalist, this year brought some stiff competition. From flips to elaborate costumes, it seems the class of 2029 was ready to raise the standards of the Dandelion performance. The theme of the evening seemed to be throwbacks and nostalgia.
Section F kicked off the night with a Sharpay Evans Fabulous cover, complete with pink umbrellas and all-pink outfits. Next, Section A brought us both Alvin and the Chipmunks and ABBA. A confusing yet fun combination. Section C brought the theming with Circus, from Britney Spears to The Greatest Showman; the song choices were chef’s kiss. The LLMs showed off their Macarena and salsa abilities. Shoutout to whoever painted each flag on the individual faces, a perfect touch. Section H brought up the blue pompoms à la Dallas Cowboys for a halftime theme? Not going to lie, this theme was slightly confusing.
For the back half of the festivities, Section E did an Eras rendition of songs through the decades and ended with We’re All in This Together. Cheesy but the right amount of cheesy. Section B did a medley of Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, and Bieber. A greatest hits of previous year’s Section Bs. Section D resparked the Drake vs. Kendrick beef. The Not Like Us signs were the perfect amount of friendly fire. Finally, Section G completed the evening with a Gaga mashup. Lots of impressive floorwork done for us uncoordinated law students.
We here at the Law Weekly must congratulate the crowned champions: Section B! However, we must say this year brought the most energy Dandelion has seen. It seems this year’s class is especially ready for the softball season if their dancing skills have anything to say about it. The evening capped off with the first Bar Review at Ellie’s Country Club. Decked in all-denim, the law students enjoyed a great welcome back to Charlottesville.
